Sokhom, our first Reach for the Sky girl, joined the program in October 2010, when she was in grade 10. She was born on 10 May 1995 in Prey Tauch village. Sokhom has an older brother and a younger sister. Her father is dead. She's currently in her 4th year at the University of Battambang, where she is studying Agriculture. She wants to use the knowledge she gains in college to help the farmers in her village. Sokhom's mother has no land. She takes care of a house on someone else's property and, in return, she is able to live in the house. She works odd jobs helping farmers in her village to earn money. Sokhom loves cooking and is the main chef at the house we rent for the Battambang university girls. Sokhom has a part-time job at a restaurant in Battambang. Upon becoming a Reach for the Sky girl, Sokhom wrote us a very nice letter expressing her appreciation for the financial help. Click here to read Sokhom's letter.
