Sary – 2022 Graduate, English Teacher
“Education helps me get out of ignorance and poverty. It also helps me to achieve my dream life. Moreover, it has helped me to solve the problems smarter than before. With education and specific skills, I can earn money.”
Sary’s Story
My name is Sary. My major is English Literature. I teach at two International Schools in Battambang. I have three siblings and my mom. My dad passed away when I was in 5th grade. My oldest brother left school in 7th grade and my other 2 brothers left school when they were in 6th grade. My message to the young generation in my country is to study hard and don’t give up. Keep going and keep working on your dream. No matter how far it seems, soon you will reach it if you work hard enough for it.
I would like to show my deepest gratitude and appreciation to the donors who have been working very hard for this fund. Without you guys, I and other girls out there couldn’t be here today and couldn’t have a chance to get an education. As you know, Cambodia is a developing country so some children don’t have a chance to go to school and some decide to leave at a young age to earn money for supporting their family.
In the next 5 years, I think I will sharpen my skills to be better in what I’m doing right now. I am currently studying for a Master’s in Education Management. I’m planning to open a school in my community if my finances are enough for it.
“I help my community by sharing my knowledge to the young generation. I like to help people, so I think this job is the best for me.”
Sary’s tribute to her teachers: “You expected me to succeed, and this motivated me to keep trying until I did. You set the bar high, and I learned more than I thought I could. You taught me that I am smarter than I thought and that failure is okay as long as I pick myself up and try again.”
