Legacy and Planned Giving

Continue your impact for future generations.

Leave a Legacy of Opportunity

A bequest in your will is a powerful way to extend your impact and ensure that future generations of Cambodian students have access to education. A legacy gift is your opportunity to continue this life-changing work for decades to come. It allows you to make a meaningful contribution without affecting your current financial situation. After providing for your loved ones, you can also invest in opportunities that will support Cambodian students and strengthen their communities for generations.

Your bequest can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate. You may use the sample bequest language below when working with your attorney to name Cambodian Village Fund as a beneficiary in your will.

Specific Bequest Language – Naming CVF as a beneficiary of a specific amount from your estate:

“I give and devise to Cambodian Village Fund, located at 4376 Argos Dr. San Diego, CA 92116-2330, a 501(c)(3) educational organization, the sum of $___________ to be used for its general support.”

Percentage Bequest Language – Naming CVF as a beneficiary of a percentage amount of your estate:

“I give and devise to Cambodian Village Fund, located at 4376 Argos Dr. San Diego, CA 92116-2330, a 501(c)(3) educational organization, the percentage ____% of the estate to be used for its general support.”

Gifts of Retirement Assets

You may designate the Cambodian Village Fund as a beneficiary of part of your retirement assets such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan, which is an easy way to support our mission.

Simply speak with your retirement plan custodian and complete a Beneficiary Designation Form, naming the Cambodian Village Fund as a beneficiary. Because the Cambodian Village Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation your gift will transfer tax-free at your time of death and your estate will benefit from a charitable deduction because of your gift.

Your legacy is more than a gift, it is an investment in young people and the opportunities that education makes possible. Your generosity will be remembered in every student whose path is changed because you chose to make a lasting difference.

Make a Tax-Smart Gift Through Your IRA (QCDs and RMDs)

If you are age 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift directly from your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to Cambodian Village Fund through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). This allows you to support educational opportunities for Cambodian students while reducing your taxable income.

Once you reach age 73 (born 1951-1959) or age 75 (born after 1959), you are required to take annual Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs) from your IRA. By directing all or part of your RMD to Cambodian Village Fund as a QCD, you can satisfy your RMD requirement without increasing your taxable income. This can be especially beneficial if you do not need the funds for living expenses.

To make a QCD, simply contact your IRA administrator and request a direct transfer to Cambodian Village Fund. For assistance or to notify us of your gift, please email info@cambodianvillagefund.org.

Donate Highly Appreciated Stocks and Securities

A direct transfer of highly appreciated stocks or securities from your brokerage account to Cambodian Village Fund is one of the most effective ways to give. By donating shares that have significantly increased in value, you may avoid capital gains tax and receive a charitable deduction for the full fair market value of the securities.

One of our donors chose to donate shares that had grown more than tenfold in value. By transferring the shares directly to CVF instead of selling them, he avoided significant capital gains tax and was able to claim the full value as a charitable deduction, resulting in substantial tax savings while making a meaningful impact.

Before initiating a transfer, please contact us at info@cambodianvillagefund.org to let us know the name and number of shares you plan to donate. We will provide the necessary transfer instructions.

Have Questions?

Please email info@cambodianvillagefund.org if you have any questions. We would also appreciate hearing from you if you choose to include Cambodian Village Fund in your will, as this helps us plan for the future.

Planned gifts help provide stability and ensure that Cambodian Village Fund can continue supporting students well into the future. Thank you for considering a gift that will create lasting opportunity.
