2006

Funds to Purchase Food and Bikes for 10 Families

Cambodian Village Fund’s first event consists of a huge celebration for three villages. The Cambodian Village Fund distributes bikes and basic necessities to ten families in need.


2008

Founders Bill and Nancy Visit Kaun Khlong Village

Bill and Nancy travel to the village to deliver school uniforms and school supplies to 720 primary school students.


2010

Launch of the Scholarship Program

The scholarship program begins with five students in middle and high school; each receives a bicycle, school uniform and allowance.

The launch of the English Language Program also begins this year.


2012

Cambodian Village Fund Opens its First School

CVF opens its first school, a five-classroom building in Kaun Khlong, named Man Seourn’s Dream.


2013

Eye Care Program Begins

CVF sponsors a two-day Eye Camp in November 2013, where doctors conduct vision screenings, check for glaucoma and cataracts, perform cataract surgeries as needed, and provide eyeglasses. Read more about the eye care program.


Tuk-tuk for the Village

CVF purchases a tuk-tuk for the village, providing shared transportation to doctors and hospital. Read more about community improvements.


CVF Clean Water Program Begins

CVF Clean Water Program begins with the distribution of water filters to 1700+ families in six villages. Read more about the clean water program.


2014

Rebuilt Road to the School

The old road to the school flooded each year during the rainy season, requiring children to wade in knee-deep water. CVF supports raising the elevation of the road, ensuring that children can get to school safely. Read more about community improvements.


2015

Dedication of the Sickowic Learning Center

On January 12, 2015, the Sickowic Learning Center, a three-classroom building, is dedicated.


CVF Supporters Distribute School Uniforms

American CVF supporters travel to Cambodia and distribute 627 uniforms and gift packets to primary school students.


First CVF Scholarship Student Graduates College

We celebrate with Chanty, the first CVF scholarship student to graduate from college.


2016

Dedication of the Neil Patel Learning Center

The Neil Patel Learning Center is dedicated at Prey Touch Secondary School, featuring two classrooms and a library/media center for 7th to 9th graders. Students from The Bishop’s School in San Diego attend the event and contribute materials for the library.


2017

Construction on the Timothy Sykes Learning Center

The Timothy Sykes Learning Center, a five-classroom secondary school for grades 7-9 opens in Prey Touch Village.


Construction on the Balkhi Center of Learning

The Syed Balkhi Center of Learning, a three-classroom primary school and library (grades K-6), opens in Dob Krosang Village.



2018

Dedication of the Brian Dean Learning Center

Dedication of the Brian Dean Learning Center, a new three-classroom building, in Prey Touch Village on March 9th (our 6th school).


Dedication of the Tim Sykes Football Stadium

A joyous celebration to open the highly anticipated football stadium that will host youth football. Read more about our youth soccer program.


American High School Students Visit

CVF hosts on-going trips for San Diego high school students from Francis Parker and The Bishops School.


2019

Second School Funded by Brian Dean

CFV built a three-classroom building at Kaun Khlong Primary School. It is the second school funded by Brian Dean.


COVID-19

Due to COVID-19, The Cambodian government closes all schools and many businesses until further notice. CVF supports many on-going programs and gives some extra help.


Fourth Eye Camp

Twenty-five school kids receive glasses and 20 older villagers receive cataract surgery through CVF’s partnership with the SEVA Foundation. Read more about the eye care program.


Flood Assistance

In October 2020, a devastating flood struck the villages. Thanks to CVF’s supporters, we provide much-needed relief to our Cambodian friends.

2021

Million Dollar Milestone

In March we celebrate a financial milestone. We surpass one million dollars in projects in Cambodia!


Construction Completed on the Dormitory

This three-story dormitory in Battambang provides housing for 24 scholarship students.


Dedication of Mona’s Terrace

Dedication of Mona’s Terrace, a rooftop terrace in the dormitory. The mural is the work of Cambodian artist Bor Hok.

2022

Dedication of the Syed Balkhi Center of Learning

Dedication of our 8th school, the Syed Balkhi Learning Center, in Stoeung Chak Village, a three-room primary school, funded by the Syed Balkhi Family.


Mona’s Library opens at Stoeung Chak Village

The school features a beautiful library, a generous gift from Mona’s Fund. Silke White, Mona’s mother, provides the vision and inspiration for the library. Many local residents, students, and teachers attended the celebration.


American Educators Integrate Music into the English Language Program

Americans Lyndi Kemp and Zion Dyson hold a three-week workshop with teachers and students integrating music in the teaching of English. The workshop culminates in a concert with all 400 students.



Handmade Dress Distribution

A group of wonderful women, who live in Paradise Village Assisted Living in San Diego, are spreading love and joy through their handmade dresses. We deliver dresses and soccer uniforms to kindergarten and first grade students at two schools.


2023

Dedication of Our 9th School

Construction of a three-room building, (our ninth) including a library, was completed in December 2023 at Kilo Leak Buon Primary School.


2024

Groundbreaking for Our 10th School

Groundbreaking for our tenth school through a generous donation from Syed Balkhi. This three-classroom building in Prean Nil Village will open in 2024. The school principal told us that they have been waiting for 20 years for a new school.


Construction Begins on Volunteer House

This small, modern house on the grounds of the primary school will be used by CVF volunteers.


CVF Founder Bill Turns 80!

Cambodian children celebrate Bill’s 80th birthday with a cake. (See video.) Bill attends a virtual birthday party with the scholarship girls over Zoom.
