Malay with flowers and a big smile at her festive graduation ceremony in August 2024.

After I became a member of CVF, I feel I have two families.” Malay said after her graduation – a milestone she celebrated in 2024. This would not have been possible without our scholarship program. It cost $1,800 per year to send Malay to college and provide her with housing in our dormitory. This support included school supplies, two daily meals prepared in the dorm, and access to health care.

Malay is the youngest of five children. Her older siblings are farmers. She earned a degree in English Literature. Malay works as a teacher in the Prey Touch Commune.

“ I used to think how can I complete university for 4 years while my parents had no salary to support me on my studies, since mom just sells vegetables in a small market. The income that she received from selling was paid to all parts of the family. It was the reason that I decided to apply for a scholarship from Cambodian Village Fund. ” – Malay wrote on Facebook.

Educating a young woman helps an entire family. In Cambodian culture, family members support one another, and children care for their parents. Each donation goes far beyond one woman’s personal development. It creates ripple effects that benefit many. Your gift today makes a lasting, meaningful impact. Please donate here.

Malay with her mom, who had to leave school after the second grade in order to help her family.

Malay’s homage to her mom: “My mom studied only in grade 2. She dropped the school because of poverty. Moreover, my grandparents have many children. Because of her good heartedness, my mom decided to stop studying in order to reduce my grandparents’ burden by helping to feed the cows and buffaloes. You see, she’s uneducated because she didn’t have a chance to study.🙏💐😚❤️❤️❤️ – Mothers struggle with hardships themselves, but they don’t let their children suffer. They don’t let their children fail to learn like them. Mothers are truly amazing.”
