Because You Believed in Me

Dear readers,

Settle in for a heartwarming read about Sary, who’s life took an unimaginable transformation thanks to Bill and Nancy and the CVF. When a graduate takes the time to reflect and say thank you, it speaks not only to their own journey, but to the shared effort behind it. Our scholarship program changed Sary’s life and future. She majored in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 2022 and went on to earn a master’s degree in Education Management in 2025. Here is what Sary said reflecting on her path:

Dear CVF supporters,

I am writing to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to you for the incredible support you have given me throughout my educational journey from the time I was in Grade 7, in 2010, until I successfully completed my Master’s degree, in 2025. Words alone cannot fully convey how meaningful and life changing your generosity has been to me.

When I was still a young student in Grade 7, I had dreams but very limited means. Your support at that early stage of my education became the foundation upon which my entire academic journey was built. Because of your kindness, I was able to continue my studies with confidence, stability, and hope for the future. You did not only support my education financially you supported my belief in myself and my potential.

Throughout secondary school, undergraduate studies, and finally my Master’s degree, your consistent encouragement and assistance allowed me to focus fully on learning and personal growth. During times when challenges felt overwhelming, knowing that someone believed in me and was willing to invest in my future gave me strength and motivation to persevere. Your support relieved many burdens and opened doors that would otherwise have remained closed. Because of you, I was able to access education without interruption, develop my skills and broaden my knowledge. You played a vital role in shaping who I am today, both as a student and as a person.

After graduating from college and completing my master’s degree, I stepped into a new chapter of life with determination and gratitude. I secured a meaningful and fulfilling career as a Literacy Facilitator, serving schools across an entire district. In this role, I support teachers, empower students, and help improve literacy outcomes, making a lasting impact on education and the future of my community. This work allows me to use my knowledge, leadership, and passion to uplift others every day.

One of my proudest accomplishments has been supporting both my family and myself. I was able to provide financial stability and emotional support, honoring the sacrifices my family made for me along the way. I achieved a lifelong dream: building a home for my mother, a place of comfort and security that reflects my love and appreciation for her. Later, I was also able to build a home for myself, a symbol of independence, growth, and the rewards of persistence.

Beyond my career, I am deeply committed to volunteering in my community. Whether through educational programs or community initiatives, I believe in giving back and helping others grow, just as I was supported throughout my journey.

Today, my story is one of resilience, service, and purpose. Through education, dedication, and compassion, I have built not only a successful career and stable life, but also a legacy of giving, learning, and hope for future generations.

More than anything, I am grateful for the trust you placed in me over so many years. Your belief in the value of education and your willingness to support a student from such a young age have left a lasting impact on my life. I carry your kindness with me as a reminder to work hard, act with integrity, and one day give back to others in the same way you have given to me.

I sincerely hope to make you proud and to use the education you helped provide to create positive change. I will forever remain grateful for your generosity and unwavering support. With deepest respect and heartfelt appreciation 🙏🏻❤️👩‍🎓Sary
