About the Program
What began as a pilot has blossomed into a core program. In 2024, Bob and Joan Field gave CVF a generous donation and a visionary idea: to start a tuition-free, extracurricular Science Program for primary school students. An American volunteer and a Cambodian teacher piloted the program. Despite finding limited science resources in Khmer language, they developed hand-on lessons that foster curiosity about the natural world. Science classes are held at the Bill and Nancy Kaun Khlong Primary School with two science teachers and 100 students who study after school Monday through Friday.

Why Science Matters
In rural Cambodia, access to supplemental science education is rare. Accessing STEM programs from a young age empowers students to envision themselves as doctors, engineers, and scientists, diverse careers that once felt entirely out of reach.
Science and Health Integration
We believe that knowledge should lead to a healthier life. Through partnerships with external organizations, like Cambodia Global Health, we are integrating vital health and hygiene lessons directly into our Science curriculum. By connecting scientific principles to personal well-being, we are helping our students build a healthier future for themselves and their families.
