Thank you for investing in young people from rural, rice farming communities and believing in their potential. Your support has helped these students reach an important milestone. This summer four students completed their college studies and took their final exams. Some have already begun working, while others are preparing for the next step in their lives. Reaching this point is a remarkable accomplishment. A college education opens doors to higher paying jobs, greater independence, and the opportunity to actively build a promising future.
Now that students move from college into working life, we are beginning to see the results of our combined investments. We hope you like reading these stories as much as we enjoy sharing them with you.
Sonita studied Accounting at Built Bright University from 2023 until 2026. She is working as a receptionist and office manager in a dental office in Battambang. Throughout college she lived in our dormitory, where she found friendship, support, and encouragement along the way. For the future she is interested in obtaining a masters degree in International Relations.
Sonita joined our scholarship program in 2023. She was raised by a single mother and has 3 siblings. Her motivation to pursue higher education was to support herself and her family. “I want to have a better life and I want to support my mom, because I know how hard she works.” Learn more.
Srey Phim completed four years of study in Banking and Finance at the National University of Battambang. She found work at a modern manufacturing company near Phnom Penh where she currently applies her skills in the Production Maintenance Department. She is also taking Chinese language classes to further develop her skills.
“I am very happy with my degree. I think it definitely helped me when I applied for the job because it gave me the knowledge and skill needed.”

Ponthea studied Agriculture and Horticulture from 2022 until 2026 at the National University of Battambang. “What I like most about my field is learning how to grow healthy plants and improve crop production. I also enjoy doing practical work and learning about new agricultural techniques.”
Ponthea is actively seeking job opportunities to start her career. “I hope to find a job related to agriculture or horticulture. I’d also like to continue learning, gain more experience, and build a successful career in my field.”
Ponthea grew up in Prey Touch Village in a family of 6. Her father is a rice farmer and her mom is a homemaker. To go to college she moved to Battambang where she lived with other scholarship students in our CVF dormitory. Learn more.
Somchhai was determined to pursue a degree in English Literature. She studied four years at the National University of Battambang. She loves books and is an avid reader. Besides speaking Khmer and English, Somchhai is fluent in Thai. While studying at college she worked as an online Thai language teacher. During college, she lived in our dormitory in Battambang where she found community, friends and encouragement.
Now Somchhai is working as an English teacher at a private school in Battambang. “I am really happy to be working there.”
Somchhai joined our program in 2023. She was born in Thailand where her parents worked at the time. When she was 8 years old her mom passed away and she and her dad moved back to Cambodia to live with family members. Without the financial means to pursue higher education, Somchhai applied for a CVF scholarship. This gave her the opportunity to attend college and develop her potential. Learn more.
We are proud of our 2026 students and wish them success in building their careers, pursuing new opportunities and building a better life for themselves, their families and their communities.
For $1,800 a year a young person can attend college, live in our dormitory, receive essential items like a laptop, attend after-school English classes and IT computer lessons, share meals in the dorm and have access to health and dental care.
